Post-war Bosnia, a laugh a minute?

Friday night in DC, I want to a sneak preview of The Hunting Party at the AFI theatre in Silver Spring. Fantastic movie! I knew very little about the movie, or the director that would be having a Q & A session after the movie. Here's the description I read:

A young journalist (Jesse Eisenberg), a seasoned cameraman (Terrence Howard) and a discredited journalist (Richard Gere) embark on an unauthorized mission to find the no. 1 war criminal in Bosnia; they find themselves in serious jeopardy when they are mistaken as a CIA
hit squad and their target decides to come after them.

OK, so I'm going to see some kind of political thriller, right?

Not. At. All.

This brilliant writer-director Richard Shepard, manages to mix three genres: political thriller, adventure, and comedy. Shepard was the writer-director of The Matador, and apparently directed the pilot episode for Ugly Betty (and has recently been nominated for an Emmy for that).

I had a feeling that I wasn't going to get a typical political thriller from the opening caption on the screen:

Only the most ridiculous parts of this story are true.

It was great to be able to hear from the director his ideas, visions, and what it took to make the movie. Damn, it makes me think how it would be to live a parallel life in the industry that I left long ago.

I told my companion that I wondered what the trailer would look like for this film. Will they show how uniquely mixed the genre was? I got my answer tonight. The trailer played during the coming attractions when I went to see The Nanny Diaries.

And it looked like just another hum-drum political thriller.

Don't let the trailer fool you! Go see it... I think it's supposed to be released mid-September.

I'll definitely go see it! Thanks for the recommendation!

This has nothing to do with your post, but answers your question, kind of. Energy work includes healing modalities that work with the electromagnetic field that surrounds all living tissue. It is hard to describe, and many people believe it's just plain hooey. The NIH disagrees. They've funded five studies on the effectiveness of REIKI, for instance, and many studies on other energy modalities. I'll put this on your blog, too. Come have a session of Reiki. You'll feel it. It's very gentle, yet very powerful. One of my clients this week told me it made her feel "safe."

Email me reyasdottir@verizon.net if you're interested to find out more. Many healing thoughts headed in your direction!

I'll have to keep an eye out for it. Sounds like a movie I would very much enjoy and I do love movies.
