"My name is Aileen, and I'm an American Idol addict."

There. I said it.

So now I want to comment on the season finale.

It was Pop vs. Rock. Boy vs. Man. In my mind, it wasn't even a contest.

David Cook is by far my favorite performer from this season. BUT, I'm not happy he won. I really would prefer that he get to have a "real" music career and make his own artistic choices. All you have to do is hear him sing "Billie Jean" and you'll know just what I mean.

For those of you that haven't wanted to bother with the cheesiness that is American Idol, you can get a sense of the final choice from this brief video clip.

It clearly portrays David Cook as the stronger performer. In fact, in last night's season finale- David C simply outshone everyone else- even some of the pros that made an appearance.

Thank god for sexy, soulful, rock stars.

*update...interesting article about Cook and his Cougars. While I'm not a fan of the term, I can relate to their sentiments!

I hate to be disagreeable darling but I was very disappointed with the outcome as I wanted the younger David to win. Cook just sounds like any other guy to me and he'll probably have no voice at all when he gets older. But, overall I did enjoy the parts of the finale that I actually watched.

My sister loves American Idol. I have never seen it, but I do understand the allure of competitions.

Have you seen the WaPo series called "We watch American Idol so you don't have to," ?? Cute.

Gary- Actually, I agree with you about the winner. I wanted younger David to win, he's a better match for the image too. (But I like David C as a singer/performer better :)

Reya- For me, it's not really the competition part that pulls me in. It's the frustrated performer in me. The only thing that feels similar to that feeling of being onstage, is watching someone really gifted onstage.
