Wheel of Life

Is it possible to have the various facets of your life in balance at the same time? I think I've had moments when I've felt that way, but then anxiety kicked in because everything seemed "too perfect". What's that about?

I've been through various seminars and read countless books about achieving balance in life. Several times I've seen something called the "Wheel of Life", with some variations. The idea is to work on the different categories in your life: career, family, love, spiritual, financial etc. If you rate each category on a scale of 1 to 10, you can
see how "out of whack" your life is. The wheel can't turn smoothly if the pieces are different sizes.

Sounds great. Sounds simple.

I think the concept appeals to the "goal-oriented" part of me. The "control freak" part of me. I mean, how neat! Look at a piece of the pie...rate it...put together an action plan...and bingo! Achieve a 10! Start over on the next piece of the pie...One by one until your entire life is perfect! Yea! Formulaic happiness!

But now I'm bored with the concept.

It's a never-ending process. Overly repetitive. Self-centered.

Perhaps the answer is to enjoy the bumpiness of the lopsided Wheel of Life. How fun! How unpredictable! How unsolvable! What a challenge!
